Hard And Fast: a love story

Thank you for your interest in working on Hard and Fast: a love story, the first production of our second season.  Boston Public Works Theater Company is made up of a group of playwrights who are producing our own plays. For each production, the playwright acts as her or his own artistic director. Please direct all of your questions to the playwright, Jess Foster.

Written by Jess Foster
Directed by Dawn M. Simmons

November 20 - December 5, 2015
The Calderwood Pavilion at the Boston Center for the Arts

Roger, a talented mechanic, has a real passion for restoring classics. When he enters into an agreement with John to sell his beloved '59 Austin Healey, it is only with the stipulation that John's 16-year-old son, Parker, help restore the car in order to appreciate its value.  All seems to go to plan until Roger's affection for his car crosses the line between business and pleasure. This play explores the bond between men and their cars and asks the question: Can you ever forget your first?

The playwright is looking for designers and technicians who have experience with minimal and abstract worlds that evoke concrete environments. Please email your resume, a cover letter (nothing fancy, just introduce yourself) and a link to your portfolio to Jess.

We are looking for a:

  • Producer
  • Stage Manager
  • Lighting Designer
  • Sound Designer
  • Set Designer
  • Props Master
  • Costume Designer
  • Production Manager
  • Actors
