We Just do it...ourselves.

We're a band of playwrights who is going to forego the traditional routes for play development and produce one play by each of us, putting the power of production in the hands of the playwright.  And we're drawing up a roadmap for other playwrights to take when we've completed our project. We are Boston Public Works and we're here to get new plays done by Boston playwrights.

Just like any band of entrepreneurs, we're taking charge of our art & our  careers.

13P. IT'S NOT JUST
An APARTMENt NUMBER. IT's A WHOLE 'NUTHER WAY OF DOING THEATER.

13P was thirteen playwrights who were concerned about "...what the trend of endless readings and new play development programs was doing to the texture and ambition of new American plays."  13P established the model for the playwrights in Boston Public Works to take control of their own work and artistic destinies. Their site is a fascinating legacy for anyone who is interested in alternative systems of creation. Learn about them here.

IF YOU WANt a PAINTING, WOULD YOU Go TO A GALLERY, OR STRAIGHT TO THE ARTIST'S STUDIO?

It's a DIY world where even artists are forging their own opportunities. The barriers between creators and consumers are coming down. If you want to ignore the traditional gatekeepers in the theater and seek out your own theater and discover that new, emerging artist for yourself, if you're looking for theater that's written and produced by playwrights who live and work in Boston,  you've come to the right place. Let's talk. Drop us a line, and we'll keep you in the loop.
